Estefan Props
At one point during the montage, the film flattens out into a flat, Ward Kimball cartoon modern style.
We're calling it "Fun-zilla."
This is just an arrangement of picture frames for Estefan's Salon.

Watercolor Sketchbook Pages
I'll admit it, some of these do get a little strange. I've been using this sketchbook for over a year now mostly because I had turned to drawing on loose sheets of paper instead. It feels good to be creating nonsense in a sketchbook again... Easier to keep track of drawings in bound form.

More Jack and the Beanstalk
Early Jack personality exploration.
I've been experimenting with color lately. It's definitely one of my weaknesses. Specifically I've been experimenting with hue-shifts within different areas of my designs. While this has really pushed me out of my comfort zone, it has also, as someone helpfully pointed out to me, made my work a little muddy. I think it's most obvious in Jack's face.
In thinking about this, I've come to the conclusion that hue shifts should help to comunicate form (warm/cool relationships etc...) or subtly create interest. If the purpose is to create interest, perhaps the shifts should be more gradual so as to be interesting without becoming distracting. And that theory is subject to change too. I'm interested in hearing any other thoughts on the subject.

The Giant
I've been working on my portfolio this week and I've decided to continue on with some of the things I was doing with Jack and the Beanstalk last semester. Here's some progress.

Guess Who?
No really take a guess. Anyone who watched this with me recently is disqualified though. I think it's a fairly obscure reference but that makes it interesting.

Senora Clara
This is an iteration of my earliest sketch of the character. She didn't end up looking anything like this but I liked it enough to post. She looks like she should have some kind of tiny expensive dog... but what kind?

Estefan... but probably not
We have been doing exploration for our senior film. Here's two of my cracks at the title character. Plus something random and silly.
